Total raised for No Kid Hungry: $14,496

This week, we talked with Twitch streamer Brownlove010, a.k.a. Akhil. He’s a prime example of a hunger hero that has shown time and time again that you can still be a driving force of change, no matter what size your following is.

We recently sat down with Akhil to get his perspective on streaming and fundraising, and here’s what he had to say.

What kind of content can viewers find on your streams?

Akhil: A variety of video games ranging from Rocket League and Fortnite to DOOM and community games like Jackbox and Golf with Your Friends. But also, just general chatting about food, cars, music and more.

How do you choose what to do for the day on your streams?

Akhil: It's a mix of things from what I like to play to what the viewers want to see, but also when I can, playing something new.

When did you start streaming for No Kid Hungry, and why?

Akhil: I started streaming for No Kid Hungry in 2019. I've always wanted to do charity work, maybe it's the Eagle Scout in me, and it seemed like fate. One of my friends and his daughter often play with us, and she had mentioned how she benefited from No Kid Hungry. From there, that was my inspiration to feed children and, I’ve raised $14,496 so far, which could help provide up to 144,960 meals for hungry kids!

What got you into streaming?

Akhil: I’ve always been told that I'm pretty enjoyable to talk with and listen to. So, streaming wasn't a far reach. Being a doof for fun and also understanding the average gamer and their frustrations with production teams and games is something that is just fun. Being the average gamer that likes chatting with others who enjoy games is always a plus.

What’s your favorite thing about streaming?

Akhil: My favorite thing would be just the connections we make with our viewers. See, for me, it's a family. We have had viewers who couldn't come out to their family, but they came on stream and talked with others in chat as well as myself; they felt more at home with us than at home. I foster a home for everyone to come to, a group of absurd passionate people around the world who care. That's who we are.

Anything to close?

Akhil: To close, I'm always open and available, love helping others in every manner I can, and enjoy every moment — even when I hate games like FNAF — and I'll do it all for the kids.

If you’d like to know more about Akhil, you can catch him on Twitch Monday - Friday, 6pm – 10pm EST and follow him on Twitter and Facebook.
