Lots of kids rely on free meals at school. But where do they eat in the summer?
One of the ways you're helping feed kids in the summer months is through food trucks that bring free meals to neighborhoods where there are lots of kids in need.
Cindy Mock, a county worker, drives one of those trucks in Hagerstown, Md. every summer, and sees firsthand how badly the children need those free meals.
"The kids swarm the truck when we come," she said. "When we pull in the lot, they’re running to the truck, and they’re lining up before even get out of the truck. They’re looking for the truck so that they can eat that day. I mean, you can just tell. A lot of the kids, they really need us to come so that they can have that meal for the day."
"I’ve gotten to know these kids, and they just - they touch my heart," she said. "You get to know them, and you love them like they’re yours."
