No Kid Hungry California

Fueling Our Kids

The wake of the pandemic, and high unemployment means 1 in 6 kids in California could face hunger this year. When the pandemic struck, No Kid Hungry responded quickly, infusing local communities with needed resources, providing guidance to school districts and community organizations, getting the word out about local food sites, and successfully advocating for federal and state dollars to go where they are needed most.

Please join us in a California statewide fundraising campaign - No Kid Hungry California: Fueling Our Kids. Your support will help ensure vulnerable kids in California have access to healthy meals all year long.

Since March 2020, No Kid Hungry California has provided over $10 million in emergency grants to help frontline meal providers, prioritizing grants to communities where the most vulnerable live, including those with high levels of homeless families and tribal and isolated, rural communities. Our grants are bolstering school and community meals programs with PPE for food service workers who prepare and distribute food to kids and families, trucks and buses that transport it, warming carts, insulated bags, refrigeration and storage equipment, signage, and staffing.

“You know, I was really embarrassed to have to come with my mom to pick up food here. I thought it was only something really poor people do. But I saw so many of my friends the first day we came. I realized it wasn't just my family going through stuff. Everyone could be going through something and we don't even realize it. Now when I come I'm grateful we have this available to us. So thank you for keeping me with food in the fridge every week. You're cool." - shared a teen from a Petaluma, CA school site.

No Kid Hungry has a plan to feed them, but we need your help.

Children in California are facing hunger at rates not seen in recent memory, and this crisis of hunger isn’t dependent on a vaccine or the next promising jobs report. Its impact will be felt for years ahead, especially if we don’t act.

No matter where kids are, they need fuel to power them, and we are working our hardest to ensure they receive it. Funds raised by the California Campaign will help fund meals for hungry kids throughout California.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to campaign leadership and early supporters for making this work possible.
