5/23/2022, Baltimore, MD: As part of their ongoing efforts to ensure kids across the state have access to healthy meals all year long, No Kid Hungry Maryland announced over $500,000 in grant funding to 25 schools and community organizations. These funds will support grantees’ efforts to feed kids this summer and in the upcoming school year.

All kids deserve a happy, hunger-free summer. Yet, for many kids, summer is the hungriest time of the year. Summer hunger can have a long-term impact on a child’s health, ability to learn and general well-being.

“For kids, summer should be a time full of friends and fun; they shouldn’t have to struggle with an empty stomach or stress about when they will eat again. These grants will help reach more kids with the food they need,” said Ayesha Holmes, Director for No Kid Hungry Maryland. “We are proud to support schools and community organizations as they do their important work to reach more kids with healthy meals, no matter the challenges they face.”

Families across Maryland can visit mdsummermeals.org this summer to find a meals site near them.

No Kid Hungry Maryland is focused on providing funding and strategic assistance to schools and local organizations implementing summer meals programs to help them reach more kids this year.
